What is Therapy?
Do you need somewhere safe and confidential to talk about your life or painful, uncomfortable and/or confusing issues? Therapy is a setting where we can explore all those things and more.
A counsellor/therapist who has been trained to actively and attentively listen is there for you to talk to and help you find ways to change and improve things.

If you cannot get through to me immediately, I am probably in a session with a client. Please leave your name and contact number and I will reply to your message as soon as I can.
How long is a session?
Sessions last 50 minutes. They are normally on the same day at the same time each week. We will arrange this matter at the first session.
How many sessions will I need?
Each person will require a different number of sessions. It all depends on the presenting issues you have and where you are at. It is different for every person.
The number of sessions you may need is something we can discuss at the first session.
How much does counselling cost?
A sliding scale of fees applies, to enable everyone to have access to counselling and therapy based on their income. Fees are normally between £40.00 and £60.00. Special fees apply for couples counselling.
How confidential is counselling?
My objective is to offer a confidential, safe, and comfortable setting for the therapy services I provide to clients.
All sessions are private and confidential. I maintain confidentiality in line with the ethical guidelines of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) of which I am a member.
I can be contacted at any time by phone or email if you have anything you would like to ask. An informal chat about what you could get out of counselling is a good way to start.
What about missed sessions?
The client agrees to attend weekly sessions (except in the case of holiday or sickness). Holiday cancellations should be given at least 1 week in advance. These sessions will not be charged for. For missed sessions, and for sessions cancelled with less than 7 days notice, the fee for that missed session is still payable in full, at the following week’s session.
I will also endeavour to give the same amount of notice should I have to cancel. In terms of holidays, I will always give plenty of notice – I generally take 3 weeks off during July & August time.
What about contact with me in-between sessions?
Should you need to contact me to cancel a session, or because you are running late, you may do so. I am available between my working hours of 7am – 10pm. You may leave a voice message if I do not answer, and I will get back to you. Texts and emails can be unreliable, so clients should not rely on these to contact me – if you do text or email, and I do not get back to you within a day, please assume I have not received the message and follow up with a phone-call.
Clients can end sessions at any time. However, clients attend sessions on the basis that they agree to give advance notice of leaving therapy, and to meet for some final closing sessions ( I recommend at least 2 sessions), to address any unresolved issues and finish in a safe way.
